Following the future trends of innovation in economic development , National Development Council (NDC) has been coordinating cross-ministerial resources to enforce the Asia Silicon Valley Development Plan (ASVDP 1.0). This plan was approved at the No.3514 Cabinet Meeting by Executive Yuan on Sep 8th, 2016. Based on Taiwan’s existing advantages of hardware manufacturing in the fields of ICT & semiconductor, The Plan has connected Taiwan with global advanced R&D momentum, and facilitated innovative applications of soft-/hardware integration. The Plan has two primary objectives: firstly, promoting innovation and R&D for devices and applications of Internet of Things (IoT), and secondly, upgrading Taiwan’s startup and entrepreneurship ecosystem. Hopefully the Plan will transform Taiwan’s industrial structure with the IoT, and drive economic growth with innovation and entrepreneurship to create new industries for the next generation and accelerate Taiwan’s digital transformation.
In recent years, with the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and 5G, the application of the Internet of Things (IoT) has been more and more adopted, which is helpful for the development of various innovative services. Moreover, as Taiwan’s startup ecosystem is becoming more and more thriving, it is necessary to accelerate exits of startups in the future. Based on the fruitful performance of Asia Silicon Valley Development Plan 1.0 (ASVDP 1.0) over past few years, National Development Council (NDC) had initiated cross-ministries coordination to jointly formulate "Asia Silicon Valley Development Plan 2.0" (referred to as ASVDP 2.0), approved by the Executive Yuan in August 2021. The plan is enforced from 2021 to 2024.
ASVDP 2.0 takes "To accelerates industrial evolution with AIoT" & "To drive next generation industry with innovation and entrepreneurship " as two major pillars and it will actively introduce 5G, AI and other key digital technologies, to encourage the export of AIoT solutions to global market and accelerate startup growth and exits to make Taiwan a key innovative power in Asia.
