IoT market value hit a trillion dollars

  1. Through efforts made by public & private sector, Taiwan’s IoT market value hit a trillion in 2018, and reached NT$2.02 trillion in 2023.
  2. Market value increased to NT$2.02 trillion, and global market share raised from 4.24% in 2018 to 4.88% in 2023 due to remote and epidemic prevention technologies driven by COVID-19.

Attracted Innovative Resources from Global Giants

Invested by Google, Microsoft, Amazon Web Service (AWS), Cisco and Qualcomm with innovative resources in Taiwan and accelerated digital transformation of local enterprises.

  • Established an IoT innovation center (2016.10)

Promoted the establishment of an IoT industry alliance

The Asian Silicon Valley-Major League IoT promoted interdisciplinary exchanges between domestic and overseas enterprises, unions, associations, legal entities, schools and startups related to the IoT, and currently has close to 400 members. There are 9 SIGs, in the domains of smart traffic, logistics, manufacturing, energy efficiency and environmental monitoring, business, family, agriculture, medical care and IoT information security, actively facilitating exchanges between the industry, government and academia and therefore, expand their business.

Actively promote industry cross-domain exchanges and cooperation, expand business opportunities, photos of related activities

 

Developing Smart City Applications

  1. Encouraged enterprises to foster IoT technologies to develop 281 smart solutions in the field of transpiration, healthcare, agriculture, governance, education, tourism and retail etc.
  2. Encouraged enterprises to develop 23 cases with 5G O-RAN in the field of next generation communications, healthcare, manufacturing etc.

281 smart solutions are domestically quenched and imported into 22 counties and cities across Taiwan to improve the quality of life of the people

   

Strengthening IoT Security

Accomplished 6 IoT security guidelines (incl. smart transportation, agriculture, commerce etc., ) for enterprises’ reference and assisted in introducing the guidelines into products/services. Also, a Taiwanese corporate had obtained the first IoT security rating from UL, an international security institute, which is beneficial to enter European and American markets.
 

Facilitating development of autonomous vehicles

  1. Approved 19 public transport experiments locating in Changbin Industrial Park, Changhua; Qingpu, Taoyuan; Love River in Kaohsiung etc.
  2. Established Taiwan’s first“Operational Central Control Platform for Autonomous Vehicles” to track driving conditions and operated in Xinyi Road, Taipei; Shuinan, Taichung; Shalun, Tainan in the field.
